WHO’S TURNING 90? THIS GUY!

After the service at Gormley Church, we love to gather as a church family to linger, talk, connect and enjoy a beverage and a snack.  We call it the Lingering Ministry!  The Lingering Ministry will be extra special on Sunday, September 10, because we will be celebrating the 90th birthday of a man who has been a blessing to his Gormley Church family, Steve Mintsopoulos.

Don’t you do dare take off after the service to go to Swiss Chalet!  There will be a celebration of Steve’s birthday outside, with Portuguese BBQ chicken and side orders from Galina’s BBQ.  Steve has no interest in presents, but his birthday wish is for your presence!  If you have not seen Steve in a while, why not join Steve at the Sunday Service at 10 AM and stay afterwards to break bread and wish Steve a Happy Birthday?  Steve’s second birthday wish is that you will bring paper plates, cutlery, desserts and salads to share with your church family.  He’s partial to chocolate.

Happy Birthday Steve!

There are a series of outdoor events taking place at Gormley Church, over the course of the next couple of weeks, which require volunteers!

This Friday, September 8 at 7 PM we invite you to join us in erecting the three remaining outdoor tents.  The big one is already up, but in addition to these three smaller ones there are also tables and chairs to be brought outside.  Please plan to join us on Friday evening!  The more volunteers, the quicker the setup!

In addition to the outdoor setup, you can also help by bringing food and/or picnic related items to Gormley Church for the next two Sundays (Sep. 10 & Sep. 17).  The main meal is provided by Gormley Church, but there is always room for salads, side orders and desserts!  Also, Gormley Church is grateful for any contribution in the way of paper plates, plastic cutlery and paper towels.

Please pray about how you can contribute to these connection events at Gormley Church and be a blessing to your church family.

Prayer Vigil

“Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NLT)

At 7 PM on Friday, September 15, Gormley Church will gather as a church family to join in a Prayer Vigil. It will be a Friday evening where we pray as a church family to a Father God who hears the prayers of his children; children confident in His care and confident in knowing He has a perfect plan for our lives and for the future of Gormley Church. There will be worship, confession, forgiveness and intercession covering topics such as finances, administration, communication, leadership, new ministry projects and the building site plan.

Aren’t you grateful we can enter God’s presence and talk to Him?  Thank Him today, and prepare to join your Gormley Church family on this special Friday.  In the midst of a busy September, let’s not forget to pray.

A TASTE OF BRAZIL LUNCHEON

Gormley Church’s own Dr. Paul Pascoal has been invited by Emmanuel International – Brazil to be a key speaker at a leadership training conference in the Brazilian state of Rondônia. Pastor Paul will be training 1000 Christian leaders from 10 ethic groups within the Terenas indigenous people.

While the international travel cost is covered, the cost of travel for Pastor Paul between São Paulo, Brazil and the city, Pimenta Bueno, Rondônia, was unexpectantly high. It is a distance inland equivalent to the distance between Toronto, ON and Regina, SK.

While Emmanuel International – Brazil is prepared to cover this inland flight cost, our partners at EI-Brazil ask Gormley Church for assistance.  As a church family who knows our pastor is going to be a blessing to our brothers and sisters in Brazil, we are ready to respond in the best way Gormley Church knows how: FOOD!

Please join us for the A Taste of Brazil Luncheon immediately following the Sunday morning service on September 24!  On the menu will be Brazilian Feijoada – Black Beans Stew. The goal will be to raise $745 to assist with the payment for Paul’s plane ticket, so please join your Gormley Church family and please be prepared to give!
