“Faith is a living, unshakable confidence in God’s grace; it is so certain that someone would die a thousand times for it.” – Martin Luther
Join your Gormley Church family on Thursday, October 19 at 7:30 PM to mark this momentous and pivotal point in Church history. There will be a presentation, a quiz, and refreshments! Hosted by Lois Pugh and we are looking into booking Martin Luther for the event. Stay tuned, but better yet come and be blessed.
“And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” (Mark 16:15)
Missions Weekend 2017 includes workshops hosted by guest speakers, Samson Javaid and Joseph Joseph, plus an international dinner on Saturday evening. At 3 PM, Samson Javaid (Jesus Network) will be speaking on how to share Christ with Pakistani Muslims in Toronto. Following the international dinner, Joseph Joseph (Reading With Compassion), missionary to Northern India, will lead a workshop based on his experiences with establishing churches and a theological school at the foot of the Himalayas.
Missions Weekend International Dinner is East Indian cuisine. You may be trying a new dish and hopefully finding a new favourite. Please sign up in the church foyer or contact the church office to book your free seat to these workshops and meal!
Missions Weekends ends with Gormley Church’s Missions Sunday service with guest speakers SIM missionaries to Nigeria, Cheryl and Donna Pridham (School For Widows). Gormley Church is excited to connect with the Pridham sisters again!
Gormley Church is an Evangelical Church, located in Richmond Hill for more than 140 years. As our church family becomes more multicultural and inter-generational, we believe in the importance of helping new Canadians integrate. To integrate not just into the beautiful culture and languages of Canada, but to also invite new Canadians to explore a loving relationship with Jesus Christ.
On October 29 at 5:00 pm, Gormley Church will launch a Portuguese Speaking Ministry named CARAVELA. Like the age of discovery Portuguese caravels, whose flag lifts up the cross of Christ, this ministry aims to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus and to serve as a social and spiritual interface for York Region residents whose origins are Portuguese speaking countries, such as Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Guiné-Bissau, and Portugal.
Our Caravela launching celebration includes contemporary worship, special musical participation by Rui Nunes (a Portuguese musician and lead Pastor at The City Church International in Toronto), and a message of hope based on God’s Word. Simultaneously, there is a Kid’s Program for children under 15 years old. Following this celebration is a time of fellowship around the table, with Caldo Verde soup and Portuguese-Brazilian desserts.
Portuguese speakers, you are invited! You are welcome! You are loved!
